Ocean Ports of Call

Ainsworth Bay - Chile Highlights:
Marinelli Glacier, Elephant seals, Tucker Islet penguins
Ainsworth Bay is in D Agostini National Park and lies in the midst of the Darwin Range where the Almirantazgo Sound leads from The Magellan Straits. Nearby is the Marinelli Glacier - the enormous wall of this ice giant stands more than 40 meters high. On the beach you can observe a colony of elephant seals and then walk to discover a beaver dam in the midst of a marvelous Magellanic forest.

In the Bay is Tucker Islet, where there are colonies of Magellanic Penguins nesting among the vegetation in burrows, accompanied by the assailant skua gulls (predator birds) diving around. At the other end of the islet we will find a large flock of cormorants.
