Amsterdam is a city located in Montgomery County, New York State on the Mohawk River and the Erie Canal. Originally named Veeders Mills and Veedersburgh by Dutch immigrants around 1710, the name was changed to Amsterdam in 1803. In 1773, Places of interest include Guy Park, a stone Georgian mansion, built by Guy Johnson who as a Loyalist, fled to Canada during the Revolution, the former National Guard Armory now a bed and breakfast inn called Amsterdam Castle and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum.
