Aomori - Japan Highlights:
Mutsu Bay, national forests, Sannai-Maruyama Ruins
Aomori lies in sheltered Mutsu Bay on the northern tip of Honshu Island. One of Japan's most important transportation centres, it is the terminus of both northern Honshu rail lines and railroad ferry services across the Tsugaru Strait to Hakodate, on Hokkaido. The peninsulas of Tsugaru and Shimokita enclose Mutsu Bay and in the mountainous interior are some of Japan's finest timber stands, mostly in national forests. The area has plenty of Jomon period ruins, the most famous among them being the Sannai Maruyama ruins located just southwest of the city centre where the remains of a large wooden building was unearthed, believed to be 5,500 years old.

There are more than 30 cruises calling at this port. Click the month or cruise line logo you are interested in to see details of the cruises.
