A tour of the city will include the 15th century St Clement's Cathedral, 11th century Vor Frue Church, the Old Town (Den Gamle By) and an outdoor museum of medieval buildings. Nearby is the excellent Scandinavian Deer Park that includes wolves as well as deer.
Aarhus became an episcopal see in 948 and prospered under a succession of notable Roman Catholic bishops in the 14th and 15th centuries. It declined after the Reformation in the 16th century, but was revived in the 19th century as a shipping and manufacturing centre.
