Bay City lies at the junction of the Saginaw River and Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron. Settled in the 1830s, it has deepwater harbour facilities and is a port for the Great Lakes and ocean shipping. Sights of interest include a Historical Museum and the City Hall and there are several riverside parks as well as amusement parks and bathing beaches along the shore of Lake Huron.
