The bay was given its name by Captain Tobias Furneaux in 1773 who saw the fires of the Aboriginal people on the beaches. The Bay of Fires is a region of white beaches, blue water and orange hued granite. The entrance to the Bay of Fires - Binalong Bay is one of Tasmania's most beautiful beaches and provides some great views and walks along the coastline.
