Bodo is located at the end of a peninsula projecting into the Norwegian Sea, at the northern entrance to Salt Fjord in north-central Norway. Founded by Trondheim merchants, much of the town was destroyed by Germans in World War II. Sights of interest include the Norwegian Aviation Museum, 13th-century Bodin Church, the modern Bodo Cathedral and the old trading post of Kjerringoy to the north of the town.
