Due to the Gulf Stream, there is a temperate maritime climate, which means that it is not very hot in summer and not very cold in winter. The sandy beach extends is 26km long. The island is one of the Frisian Islands and offers cylists, hikers, beach and nature enthusiasts a world of activities - beaches are clothing optional and many sun worshippers take advantage of this.
