Limestone Cat Ba Island lies in Halong Bay off the coast of Northern Vietnam in the Gulf of Tonkin, where Chinese and Vietnamese pirates settled during the late 19th century. It is home to some of Vietnam's most beautiful landscapes and diverse ecosystems, which include a primeval forest, waterfalls, limestone lakes, and hot springs. More than 600 types of plant life, including Bang, Sang Le, and Kim Giao trees, flourish on the island. The marine zone supports sea turtles, oysters, lobsters, and dolphins.
