Catalina Island is located off the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic opposite the port and resort town of La Romana. Beaches and watersports are the main features of the island itself. Take the 45 minute ferry ride to La Romana on the mainland. Here you can enjoy the facilities of one of the resorts, visit the Casa de Campo resort with its extensive facilities or take various excursions. If time permits visit Santo Domingo, the New World's oldest colonial city or take a tour of the artist village of Altos de Chavon. Explore the Chavon River which was the location for the film "Apocalypse Now".
