Celukan Bawang is a port located just 40 km west of Singaraja in northern Bali on a protected bay. The harbour is full of Bugis schooners trading in timber and cement between Bali and Kalimantan. Nearby is Lovina Beach with its quiet black sand beaches. The city of Singaraja is the second largest city on Bali and was the Dutch colonial administrative centre for Bali and the Lesser Sunda Islands from 1849 until 1953. Places of interest in the area include the the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan Temples, Puri Agung Beleleng compound and Gitgit Waterfalls.
