Clear Island was known as " The Teardrop of Ireland" by the emigrating Irish. A rocky outcrop on the south western corner of Ireland, it is part of an eroded peninsula of which Cape Clear forms the very end. It is home to the 14th century O'Driscoll Castle as well as abundant bird and marine life - the waters around here abound - whales, sharks, dolphins and leatherback turtles.
