Cowichan Bay is a unique and historic waterfront town on southern Vancouver Island facing the Gulf Islands. There are excellent restaurants, a museum and boatbuilding school at the Maritime Centre and the highly regarded Marine Ecology Station. Nearby you can explore the Cowichan River Footpath, Vineyards or the Gulf Islands. For many thousands of years Cowichan Bay was home to First Nations people before becoming the gateway for European settlement of the Cowichan and Chemainus valleys from the early 1860's.
