The Dahlak Archipelago comprises 350 untouched islands, mostly rocky islets, off the Red Sea coast of Ethiopia containing largely ignored archaelogical ruins shortly to become a UNESCO site. There are three principal islands, the largest of which is Dahlak (32 miles long by 18 miles wide). In Roman times the islands were famous for it pearl fisheries and today sea life is plentiful.
