Eastham Locks is the entry point for Manchester Ship Canal. It lies on the south or Wirral side of the estuary of the River Mersey in northwest England near Liverpool. Until 1929 nearby Eastham Ferry bustled with traffic across to Liverpool but the area is now a Country Park. At Ellesmere Port there is a Boat Museum and Port Sunlight is a garden village for workers built by Lord Leverhulme in 1888 - in the centre is the Lady Lever Art Gallery.
