The sheltered port of Egersund is situated in the southern part of Norway on the beautiful scenic island of Eigeroy. Shuttle buses are normally provided for a scenic tour to the city centre (10 minutes drive). This remarkable geographic area is a part of The Rogaland Anorthosite Province which was shaped for over 900 million years ago and is about to be accepted from UNESCO as Magma Geopark in 2008.
The atmospheric little town has been remarkably well preserved with old wooden houses from the late 1800s. The Egersund Church dates back to 1600. In the charming city centre you can stroll and experience the laid back living and traditional life centred on a bustling harbour with a thriving fishing and maritime industry. The surrounding landscape varies from mountains and heathland, forests and cliff skerries to small villages such as Sogndalstrand.
