Situated on Grand Bahama Island, 100 miles off the Florida coast, Freeport and Lucaya are two tourists centers about 5 miles apart. They offer great beaches, crystal clear water, excellent offshore diving, resort hotels, casinos, golf courses and shopping bazaars. Grand Bahama is the fourth largest island in the Bahamian archipelago and has over 660 miles of beaches and stretches nearly one hundred miles from east to west, but is only 17 miles across at its widest point.
Downtown Freeport revolves around the Moorish dome of the Princess Casino, right off the busy roundabout called Ranfurly Circus. Nearby, the International Bazaar is a bizarre and overwhelming collection of boutiques with a foreign theme - Japanese arches competes with French cafes nestles against Greek columns and Middle Eastern malls.
