From Vancouver in the south, the coastal mountains on the mainland rise up in steep, forested slopes to form a dramatic backdrop. The strait is home to harbor seals, bald eagles and orcas, as well as the islands and coastline of Vancouver Island. From the old-world city of Victoria on the southeastern tip of the Island going north you will find towns and villages like Alert Bay, Campbell River, Nanaimo and Telegraph Cove.
