The Strait of Georgia runs between the British Columbia mainland, and Vancouver Island on the western coast of Canada. From Vancouver in the south, the coastal mountains on the mainland rise up in steep, forested slopes to form a dramatic backdrop. The strait is home to harbor seals, bald eagles and orcas, as well as the islands and coastline of Vancouver Island. From the old-world city of Victoria on the southeastern tip of the Island going north you will find towns and villages like Alert Bay, Campbell River, Nanaimo and Telegraph Cove.
