Graciosa Island is one of the Azores Group. In the town of Santa Cruz several churches and the Ethnographic Museum which contains items related to the culture of wine and the now defunct whaling industry, are worth visiting. Just outside the town Monte de Nossa Senhora da Ajuda, overlooks the town, the north side of the island, and the interior plain of Guadalupe giving an unforgettable view. You can explore Furna de Enxofre, a small sulphur lake in a grotto beneath a crater accessed by a 250 foot spiral staircase. Also see the black underground Lake Caldeira, and hot springs with bath house.
