Grundarfjordur on the west coast is one of Iceland's oldest fishing villages and sits on a fjord dominated by surrounding mountains. It is a natural harbour on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula that juts out from the west coast of Iceland. The area is dominated by the Snaefell Volcano and Glacier where, according to Jules Verne's book, the entrance to the centre of the earth can be found.
