Harwich is a seaport in Essex, on the eastern coast of England, at the mouths of the rivers Stour and Orwell. It is one of England's principal North Sea ferry terminals and has become a major port for trade with the rest of Europe. Regular passenger crossings are made to Sweden, Germany (Hamburg), and Denmark. It was a busy harbour in Saxon times, and has been an active outport for London since the 14th century.
