Hayman Island is one of the Whitsunday Islands group at the northern entrance to Whitsunday Passage, off northeastern Queensland. It is a very popular resort island with extensive facilities. The resort is nestled on a calm coral-encircled bay with a white sandy beach. Shady ponds and gentle waterfalls thread their way among tropical gardens, spacious walkways and open air lanais.
Approximately 2 miles (3 km) by 1 1/2 miles, the island is a designated national park surrounded by coral reefs and features a bird sanctuary and wooded hills inland. It also gives access to the Great Barrier Reef.
