MS Spitsbergen is Hurtigruten's latest ship which has been adapted to be environmentally friendly and suitable for polar waters. She will operate as an Expedition Ship with a full expedition team and educational programme onboard  Spitsbergen passengers tend to be 50+ and European and some Americans. When all cabins have double occupancy, the ship provides a space ratio of 34.8 tons per passenger and a crew to passenger ratio of one for every 2.9 passengers. At full capacity the space ratio is 34.8 tons per passenger and the crew ratio is one to 2.9 passengers.
